A seven member team of Punjab Police have arrested wife of a Kupwara businessman who was murdered last month in Punjab over the charges of conspiring her husband’s murder. Police said she had developed illicit relation with one of the murder accused.Claiming to have solved the case, a Punjab Police official told news agency GNS that the team which included two lady officials arrested wife of Maqsood Shah from Kupwara and took her to Punjab.

The deceased Maqsood’s wife, Arvaiza had “illicit” relations with Abdul Rashid, one of three accused, which lead to the murder, said the official. Police said it have already arrested three accused, Abdul Rashid Khawaja son of Mohammad Yousf Khawaja, a resident of Thandipora Muqam in Kupwara, Manjeet Singh alias Mandeep of Nakodar, Shahkote, Amandeep SIngh alias Amna of Shahkot. He said on April 9 (Saturday), the police Station Mehatpur found Maqsood’s body at a dam near village Parjian Kalan after which  an FIR No. 48/2016 under section 302, 201 IPC was registered and investigation started. The body had marks of violence on the face and neck, he according to GNS said.

Maqsood hailed from Kupwara but lived in Malsian village on rent basis and was earning livelihood (doing shall business) there.“On preliminary questioning, the accused Abdul Rashid revealed that he had illicit relationship with the deceased's wife identified as Arvaiza,” he said, adding: “Based on this statement, a detailed analysis of call records of the deceased and his wife was carried out.”The wife of the deceased was in frequent contact with the accused Abdul Rashid, he said. “There is evidence that she hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her husband. She had made 77 times contact since last month with Rashid,” the official said. “This analysis led to the zeroing in on Abdul Rashid which later led two more arrests of Mandeep and Amandeep.”Accordingly, Abdul Rashid was arrested and his confession led to the recovery of the weapons used by the accused for committing the crime, which had been thrown away after the murder in the dam at Parjian Kalan.
