Minister for Sheep & Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Mr. Abdul Ghani Kohli Friday visited various areas  and took stock of the developmental activities of the department.The Minister was accompanied by Director Animal Husbandry, S.L Bhagat, Director Sheep Husbandry, Sant Ram, Director Fisheries, R.K. Dogra, MD Wool, Ramzan Sheikh and Joint Director Animal Husbandry, Sanjeev Verma.Mr. Kohli visited fish aquarium Bagh-e-Bahu, Disease Investigation Lab (Sheep and Goat), wool grading centre Kartholi, Frozen Semen Processing Laboratory Hakkal, Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Fish Farm at Gho Manasan.During his  visit to  Bagh -e- Bahu aquarium  the Minister was apprised that revenue amounting to about Rs. 85 lacs per annum comes from it and  department is planning to construct second phase of the aquarium  which would definitely increase the revenue.

The Minister also  visited Disease Investigation Lab Kartholi , Sheep & Wool Workers Training Class and Fleece testing Laboratory.During inspection, the Minister was apprised about the latest techniques being adopted for investigation and diagnosis of various disease's in sheep and goats besides measures taken to develop disease free livestock.He was also apprised about various aspects of wool analysis and steps taken for production of quality wool.Mr. Kohli emphasized upon the veterinarians and staff to work with zeal and dedication  while laying focus on generating mass awareness regarding various departmental schemes  so that maximum people avail benefits of these schemes for raising their socio-economic status.

Meanwhile the Minister also visited the Frozen Semen Processing Lab, Haqqal and directorate of Animal Husbandry where he exhorted upon the functionaries to come up to the expectations of the people by facilitating them accordingly. 

Expressing concern over the congested Path approaching referral hospital of the directorate Mr. Kohli said that adequate measures would be taken to shift the hospital to other suitable place.Later, Mr. Kohli also visited  Fish Farm at Gho Manhasan where he was informed that during the year 2015-16 about 185 fish farmers were trained.It was also informed that the private fish farmers are earning about Rs 10,000-50,000 annually from the single unit of two kanals water area.During his visit to Belicharana the Minister directed the concerned officers to take up the issue of departmental land with concerned authorities. He also said that all the arrangements have been put in place to ensure that proper facilities are provided to the nomads while shifting to higher reaches.
