Bali Bhagat reviews functioning of health deptt

Asks for adopting patient-friendly approach

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, on Friday chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the department in Kashmir division.The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sameer Mattoo, CMOs, BMOs, Medical Superintendents, senior staff at DHSK among other officers of the health department.Taking a detailed review of the functioning of district hospitals, Sub district Hospitals, Primary Health Centers, and Community Health Centers the Minister directed the concerned authorities to focus on the welfare of the patient by ensuring punctuality and proper sanitation in the institutes.Mr  Bhagat said that a number of district hospitals, SDH, PHC were upgraded in the state and all steps will be taken to provide adequate staff in these health institutions. He called upon the CMOs and Medical Superintendents to monitor the functioning of   the health institutes and seek requisite feedback regarding implementation of various schemes.

Giving an acronym TAP to improve the service delivery mechanism the Minister stressed for ensuring complete transparency, accountability and performance at all the levels. He said that the unnecessary referrals should be avoided from the peripheral hospitals like GMC, Srinagar or SKIMS adding that government hospitals are being equipped and strengthened with all modern facilities with discernible improvement in the healthcare delivery. The Minister asked healthcare functionaries to maintain sanctity of the noble profession and adopt patient-friendly approach. He exhorted upon them to perform their duties with missionary zeal and devotion so that patients get best treatment in the Government hospitals.Stressing   on effective implementation of the Government sponsored health schemes the Minister said that that benefits of these schemes should reach the deserving and needy patients. He called upon the medical fraternity to set new benchmarks to improve the quality of healthcare in the health institutions.Earlier Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sameer Mattoo informed the minister about the patients treated at various hospitals besides surgeries, deliveries, ultrasound, X Rays conducted during the financial year 2015-16. He also gave a detailed presentation of the health scenario at peripheral level and highlighted the requirements of the department.
