Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday said the compliance rate of the odd-even traffic scheme was "very good" on Monday, with fewer challans issued to violators.Monday was the first full working day of the second phase of the scheme that began on April 15 and will end on April 30.The minister said 710 challans were issued by the traffic police and the Delhi government's transport department. Each violator was fined Rs.2,000.On April 15, although it was a government holiday on account of Ram Navami, 1,311 violators were fined -- 884 by the police and 427 by the transport department. The number dipped to 678 on Saturday.The first phase of the scheme was implemented between January 1 and 15.The scheme allows cars with odd-numbered registration plates to run on odd dates and even-numbered ones on even dates.Rai said the Delhi Transport Corp (DTC) on Monday made a profit of Rs.22 lakh as compared to the previous Monday.A total of 41,11,327 people boarded DTC buses on Monday, an increase of 2.54 lakh over the previous Monday.
