Sr. Vice President JKPCC & Ex Minister Congress today visited remote areas Ghar, Chang, Kanerhi, Majoor in Akhnoor and addressed public darbars. Sham lal express serious concern over scarcity of ration and precarious power situation across the state. Attacking BJP Government Sham lal said that the shortage of ration in Jammu region speaks about the insensitivity & callousness of the authorities. He said there is shortage of Ration especially Rice, Sugar & Flour in Government depots all across the state.Sham also said that there is no supply of ration from last 2-3 months & Nowadays there is total shortage of Rice & Flour as some depots have no supply of Ration and some are providing Ration below 35 kgs which is against the preset guidelines of the Government. He regretted that the PDP-BJP government totally failed to sort out the shortfalls in this regard and was making false claims whereas it failed to provide sugar and ration to the people even as per the existing scales since it came to power. He also said Jammu & Kashmir has the largest percentage of BPL as compare to other states of India, Moreover people of J&K are hilly terrain and it is a food deficit state.

Sham also expressed concern over complaints about non adherence of power schedule by PDD. There are complaints that power schedule is not followed on ground. The unscheduled power cuts in areas both metered & unmetered are a cause of major concern. On the issue of ration cards Sham lal said ration cards are issued every ten years, previously ration cards were issued in 2001 so the procedure for issuing new ration cards is in process. He termed it as futile exercise where gazzetted officers have been placed under lower income section where as poor labourers, farmers with less land holdings have been wrongly placed under higher income section. He said administration should take step in favour of economically weaker section of the society and it should be exercised in a transparent manner.

Sham said that the inhabitants of the area complained that The development projects which had been undertaken during the regime of congress government in Akhnoor area are lying in same shape, no developments to these projects have been made by the successive BJP PDP government People are facing problem due to the non completion said development works. The Adhar project is still very far from meeting its target coverage, Nearly 80 percent of the population is still left out" he added. Those who were present are Ram Swaroop, Parmanand Puri Conveynor, Chuni lal Vice president BCC,Subedar Gian Singh, Subash Chander Block General Secretary, Sarpanch Ramesh lal, Manga Ram, Mohan Lal Sarpanch, Darshan lal Sarpanch, Padam development senior congress leader, Chairman and Panches.
