A major tragedy was averted on Friday as security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway in Jammu and Kashmir.A senior police officer told IANS: "The road opening party (ROP) of the army detected an IED in Nowgam area of Srinagar city. The bomb disposal squads of the army and police are at work."The Srinagar-Baramulla highway are heavily used by military convoys. Militants have been using IEDs to target security forces.
