Old city traders observe complete shutdown

A complete shutdown was Saturday observed by the old city traders against “injuring of a shopkeeper in Gojwara due to pellets”.All the shops and business establishments remained closed in the old city to mark a protest against the injury of shopkeeper due to pellets.The traders also staged a sit-in in the old city here and said that the teargas shelling and firing pellets have become a routine for the forces in the area.“Every Friday, we witness teargas shelling and pelter firing by police and CRPF. How can we do business in such an atmosphere,” protesting traders told KNS.Nazir Ahmad Shah, president Shahr-e-Khaas Traders Federation had called complete shutdown and has said that the traders in Downtown area will observe shutdown to protest the government forces “excesses on us”.A shopkeeper, Sajad Ahmad Khan, 35, was injured in his head due to pellets fired by police and CRPF after Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid. Khan was admitted to SKIMS for treatment. (KNS)
