Army inaugurates vocational training centre

‘Such efforts will help in sustained development’

Army in continuation of its efforts to empower local youth, inaugurated a Vocational Training Centre at Village Krusan, Kupwara on Thursday. An army spokesman said the facilities such as stitching, cutting, tailoring, embroidery and computer training have been made available for the women folk of Lolab. The aim of the training centre is to create a sustainable skill development program which will facilitate employment of youth in various industries and provide platform for self employment to the youth especially the women folks.This vocational training centre is second of its kind in Lolab with one centre already running in Chandigam. The success of Chandigam centre led to popular demand among the public for a similar training centre at Krusan.A senior Army official from Lolab Army garrison inaugurated the centre and handed over the machines and equipments to Haneefa Begum, Coordinator of Vocational Training Centre, Krusan. The inauguration function was attended by over 200 villagers and elders and 93 girls who have been enrolled for training at the vocational training centre. Such efforts will be a push towards sustained development and provide fillip to the employment avenues for women in the Valley. (KNS)
