DDC Kulgam reviews progress on Centrally Sponsored Schemes

District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today chaired a meeting of concerned engineers and officers to review progress achieved in the district under centrally sponsored schemes.In a meeting held at Mini Secretariat attended by DPO, CPO, CEO, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, General Manager DIC, CEO Aharbal Development Authority, DSWO, Executive Officer ULB besides engineers of various wings. The DDC directed all concerned executive wings of the departments to ensure proper and timely utilization of all available resources and completion of works within stipulated time.

The meeting was informed that under R&B sector, Rs 3.63 Crore has been made available in the district under NABARD, out of which Rs 2.29 Crore has already been spent on execution of various road projects. It was also given out that while construction and upgradation of 90 percent roads has been completed so far, construction work on Qazigund-Waltengoo road, Manigam-Zangalpora raod and Waltengoo-Kund-YK Pora road is in its final stage.Similarly in the health sector, it was informed that proposed construction works for the financial year on all PHCs has been completed.In the PHE sector, Rs 1.13 Crore has been made available by NABARD out of which Rs 90 lakh have been spent so far. It was informed in the meeting that in Sub Division Qazigund, construction on Pehloo-Kellam filtration plant has been started while as 85 percent work has been completed on Gundipora-Tenkipora water supply scheme under LIC. While as in Sub Division Kulgam, 19 schemes were taken up under NABARD. It was given out that under construction Tenagam-Tengbal scheme will be commissioned by February this year.

In the Integrated Watershed Management Programme, 7 projects have been approved in the district at a cost Rs 5.08 Crore, out of which Rs 3.50 Crore have already been utilized. In Sheep Husbandry sector, an expenditure of Rs 2.65 lakh has been made against an availability of Rs 2.7 Lakh.The DDC asked Chief Horticulture Officer to prepare a comprehensive plan and identify areas for production of exotic rice (Mushqbudig) and brown rice.The DDC directed Exen PHE/I&FC to prepare an action plan for taming of Veshow Nallah which poses great danger to people living in its catchment area. He directed the concerned authorities to put in their best efforts for completion of ongoing works before the end of current financial year.
