A delegation of BJP leaders on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee over the violence in West Bengal's Malda district and urged him to seek a detailed report from the governor."The mayhem at Kaliachak had all the markings of how a state administration can ignore to protect the very secular fabric of the country, if the master wishes them not to do so," BJP leaders said in the memorendum submitted to the president."Malda witnessed the worst form of vote bank politics which compromised the national security of India," it added. The delegation was headed by Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary and incharge of party affairs in West Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya, party secretary Siddharth Nath Singh and other leaders.

Vijayvargiya also accused the Trinamool Congress state government of not taking action against the culprits due to the vote bank politics."As the police in Bengal are not allowed to act against the minority community due to the TMC government’s politics of appeasement, it can be safely inferred that the target was to destroy the records rather than a fight between the locals and BSF, as claimed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee," he said."TMC government wishes to brush the entire macabre fest under the carpet but BJP strongly believes that national interest cannot be traded for appeasement politics and therefore we request your good office to seek a detail report from the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal," the memorandum said. The BJP leaders had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday to seek a probe into the Malda incident.
