Given the importance of attracting domestic capital into India's markets, the government is trying to strengthen domestic venture funds, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said on Saturday."It is important to attract domestic capital into our equities market..we are trying to strengthen domestic venture capital," Sinha said at an interactive session here with major e-commerce players at the launch of the Start Up India programme."Today, 90 percent of capital for start-ups is foreign venture capital," he said adding that the companies like those owned by his interlocutors on the dais "would be like a booster shot for our equities market".However, sounding a note of caution on the highs and lows of "funding cycles", Sinha said that markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India has taken a number of steps to simplify the listing norms for start-ups.
