Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing Wednesday expressed profound grief over the demise of its late patron and former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.As per a statement to CNS, “a condolence meeting was held at the residence of Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para in which the youth leaders of the valley were present. The leaders expressed heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. They prayed to Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss.” Para is state youth president of PDP.
The PDP youth activists held Quran Khawani for the departed soul, the statement said.
While speaking on the occasion, Para expressed sorrow over the demise of Sayeed and prayed for peace to the departed soul.“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an institution in himself,” Para said saying that the veteran leader had played a significant role in bringing peace in the state.Para while narrating the concerns of late Mufti about Indo-Pak relations viz-a-viz Kashmir, said, “he had reached to the conclusion that for the larger stability of his state and the dignity of its people, India and Pakistan had to sow the seeds of peace in the region which would ultimately realise his dream of stable and a prosperous Kashmir.” “He would impress upon his daughter and successor, Mehbooba Mufti, about the importance of better Indo-Pak relations and its impact on Kashmir.”“Mufti is known for his credibility and his legacy and vision is what we need to take forward,” Para told the condolence meeting. “He was a typical Kashmiri worker who went against all odds. He always responded to his voice of consciousness.”Describing him as a guide for Kashmiris, Para said that Mufti “paved the way for emotional and physical contact between India and Pakistan”. “He died as a harbinger of stable J&K by voicing pushing for engagements with Pakistan.”In an emotional atmosphere, the youth activists recalled Mufti’s deeds which “helped make state of Jammu and Kashmir stable”.
