Punjab Launches Massive Awareness Campaign On Dairy Farming

In order to generate more awareness amongst the dairy farmers in the state and to acquaint them with the latest technology in the field of dairy farming, the state government has launched massive awareness campaign in the state from January 15, 2014.Disclosing this here today Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab S. Gulzar Singh Ranike said that practical training would be given  during this campaign to be launched from January 15 in various training centres under Punjab government and free literature would also be distributed during the training. Besides the certificates given to the dairy farmers, subsidized liquid nitrogen containers to keep intact good quality semen for the breed improvement of the cattle would be given.Adding further the Minister said that it was need of the hour to adopt dairy farming as an alternative business. It could only be possible if educated farmers go in for a change and accept the concept of persification with the latest techniques in this field.  

The state government, said the minister, was already in touch with Guru Angand Dev, Veterinary Sciences University, Ludhiana and Dairy Research Institution, Karnal for engaging them to impart training to the youth for breed improvement, Milk Products, feed management and protection of milk animals.The Minister also said that 45-day Dairy Entrepreneur Training batch would be started from January 15, 2014 at Bija, Tarn Taran, Phagwara, Chatamaly, Gill, Abul Khurana and Verka Dairy Training Centres in the state. Interview for the apprentice would be held on January 3, 2014 at 10.00 amin Dairy Training centres Bija (Ludhiana), Gill (Moga) and Verka (Amtrisar).He also said that the matic pass youth in age group of 18 to 45 years having a dairy farm with minimum five milch animals would be eligible to get training. Fee amounting to Rs.3500 would be charged from the trainees belonging to General Category while Rs.3000 would be charged from those belonging to backward classes. Hostel facilities would also be provided to the trainees.Further information in this regard could be sought from the department of Dairy Development Punjab at Phone No.0172-2700228.
