Lohri Festival Celebrated at Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions

Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions celebrated Lohri festival in its premises with lots of fanfare.   The cultural history of this festival centers about a Rajput tribe called Bhatti, during the reign of Akbar in the inhabited parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat. Raja of Pindi Bhattian, Dulla Bhatti, a Punjabi version of Robin Hood, who used to rob the rich and help the poor, was sentenced to death by the Mughal king for revolting against him.  He was loved and respected by the tribal people. Lohri is being celebrated to remember him and also to bid farewell to winters.The Chairman of the Gian Jyoti Group J.S. Bedi addressed the students and the faculty members of the Institute and wished them on the festival of Lohri.  The Dean Academic Aneet Bedia also congratulated everyone for Lohri and said that it marked the departure of winter in India.  The students presented various cultural activities like Bhangra, folk songs and Giddha. The audience gave them the overwhelming response and appreciated them. Bhangra was the main highlight of the event as audience was forced to watch the show breathlessly. Later on students enthralled the audience with Dance Party and various fun games.
