A high-powered committee under the chairmanship of Sohan Singh Thandal, Tourism Minister Punjab, reviewed the concept paper of interpretation centre, Golden Temple Plaza, Amritsar here today at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh.After detailed deliberations, Mr. Thandal informed that the basement work of Golden Temple Plaza in full swing. He said that soon the work of equipping the area with the suitable infrastructure would commence. He said that as per the concept of the Interpretation Centre, there would be an open to sky courtyard and four galleries in the basement. The first gallery would present the preface to Sikhism, the second would showcase the history of Darbar Sahib in 3D imagery, the third would showcase the daily activities in Golden Temple and the fourth would give a glimpse of the core values of Sikhism. Each gallery would house nearly 350 visitors.
Thandal said that the visitors would get a larger than life, emotive experience in these galleries. He informed that a special 5 member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, to review the authenticity of historical content to be presented in the galleries and a committee of experts from SGPC would scrutinize the religious content. He said that the committees would submit their findings within 3 weeks and there after the installation of the relevant framework would commence.Besides others, Mr. Tarlochan Singh MP(Ex), Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Mr. Manjit Singh GK, President Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, Mr. Harcharn Singh Secretary SGPC, Mr. Avtar Singh Hitt , member DSGMC, Mr. Surjit Patar, renowned Punjabi poet, Ms Anjali Bawara, Secretary ,Department of Tourism Punjab participated in the meeting.
