Shortly after a Division Bench of Jammu Kashmir High Court (Jammu wing) stayed the operation of the earlier order passed by the single bench (Justice Hasnain Masoodi) allowing the state government to use both the Indian as well as the state flags on official buildings and vehicles, Advocate General Jahangir Iqbal said that State Government will respond only after going through the copies of the court. He told CNS that the possibility to challenge the present court order cannot be ruled. “We are waiting for the copies of the court order. We can represent the State only when we are in the Caveat,” said.

Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal said that Court has simply stayed the earlier court order and it in no way has warned or admonished the State. “Once we will go through the court order we will decided the future course of action. It will be premature to say anything at this stage, he said.Pertinently, the stay order had come after a major political storm in Jammu as the high court had on 27 December, 2015 ruled that Article 370 cannot be repealed or abrogated and called for hoisting state flags on all government buildings and vehicles.Protests had erupted in Jammu after the Panther’s Party took to the streets, demanding answers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the judgment.
