District Development Commissioner Baramulla Yasha Mudgal today stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana in district during a meeting held at Baramulla. The meeting was attended by the Joint Director Planning, Chief Agriculture Officer, Exen PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control and Chief Horticulture Officer.The meeting took a comprehensive account of the formulation of an effective plan for the implementation of the scheme for district Baramulla. It was given out that enhancing the physical access of water on the farms and expanding cultivable area under assured irrigation and enhancing adoption of precision-irrigation and other water saving technologies are the main objectives of the scheme.
Promotion of micro-irrigation in the form of drips, sprinklers, pivots, rain-guns in the farm enhancing recharge of aquifers; promoting sustainable water conservation and ensuring integrated development of Rainfed areas, Water harvesting, water management and crop alignment are the other major objectives of the PMKSY Scheme.While calling for a phase wise implementation of the scheme, the DDC mentioned that areas with lesser natural irrigation faculties like Karewas should be taken up in the First Phase. The DDC also highlighted the fact that Rainwater Harvesting and recharging Ground water should be the focal points. The DDC directed the concerned officers to submit the Plan immediately.
