Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today promised round the clock power to the industry after Congress comes to power in the state. He said, there will be no power cuts and the industry will not have to shut down for three days a week as is the current practice.

Capt Amarinder also promised that the Congress government will do away with 14 clearances needed for setting up an industrial unit. Instead, he said, the investors will only need to provide self certification.

Addressing well attended public rallies at Giaspura in Ludhiana South assembly segment and Basti Jodhewal in Ludhiana East assembly segment in support of the party candidates Pappi Prashar and Gurmail Pehalwan respectively, here today, Capt Amarinder lambasted the failure of the Akali-BJP government in providing basic facilities to the industry.

The PCC President regretted that the industry was moving out of Punjab and 900 units had already closed down and moved out of the state. He said, this had led to dual problem of unemployment and shortage of resources.

The former Chief Minister said that the Akali-BJP alliance had only indulged in loot and robbery of the state resources besides victimizing the Congress workers. He pointed out, 50,000 false cases were registered against the Congress workers and all these will be investigated and commission set up to investigate these cases. He said, those found guilty whether the Akali leaders or the police officials will be held accountable.

Capt Amarinder also had a dig at the BJP leadership for trying to use Anna Hazare’s name. He said, even the BJP incharge for Punjab Shanta Kumar had indicted the BJP ministers who were removed from the government but were later allotted party tickets. He said, Tikshen Sud, had been accused by one of his own officers that he had indulged in corruption.

Appealing people to vote for Congress, he said, it was the question of saving the future of Punjab. “You have to decide in the interest of our future generations”, he said to a thundering applause from the public.

Ludhiana MP and the National Spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari also spoke on the occasion.
