Adaish Partap Singh Kairon Minister of Food Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Food Processing and Information Techonology, Punjab called on the ambassador of Italy, Mr. Daniele Mancini at New Delhi.During the meeting Mr. Daniele Mancini evinced interest in various opportunities available for entrepreneurs and farmers of Punjab as well as business houses of Italy. His team explored various possibilities for joint participation especially in farm mechanization, processing of rice husk for power generation and other uses etc, installation of solar panels for power generation and participation in international exhibition for better marketing opportunities etc. Kairon explained that the state of Punjab is the largest contributor of wheat and rice to central pool taking care of food security of the nation and have huge potential in the field of Agri-Mechanization though a fair amount of mechanization has already been achieved in Punjab. He explained that Punjab is producing 14 million of paddy every year. He further informed that recently Punjab have created about 40 lakh Mt of storage space and have millions of sq fts of rooftops  that can be utilized for solar power generation. Impressed upon the opportunities available in Punjab, Mr. Daniele Mancini requested his team members to have direct link with the state Government for further tie ups.
