Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash today said that the Burn Care Ward at SMHS Hospital would be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs. 4. 45 crores.The Minister said this while visiting SMHS hospital. She inspected various wards at the Hospital including Burn Ward, Emergency Surgical and Disaster Multi Causality Ward and took stock of the facilities and other treatment being provided to the patients there.The Minister directed the hospital administration to ensure every possible help to the patients. She also stressed on maintaining cleanliness in and around the hospital.While inspecting the Burn Ward, the Minister was informed that 22 patients including 12 patients in Surgical Ward are under treatment.

Responding to the demands put forth by the people at Hospital, Ms Asiea said that the sanitary units at an estimated cost of Rs 6 lakh will be constructed soon.Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of the visit, the Minister said that the domestic violence is heart wrenching and Government is serious in this regard. She said that one Staff Crises Centre will be established in Srinagar soon with the helpline number 181. She said that the Centre would help women folk in distress by protection care assistance, health facilities and legal assistance.The Minister said that people involved in domestic violence would not be tolerated and government will take strong action against offenders and punishment according to law will be given to them.Chairperson, J&K Women’s Commission, Nayeema Mehjoor, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Mr. Hashmat Ali, and Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital accompanied the Minister during the visit.
