Labour deptt organises awareness cum cheque distribution function at Eidgah

Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today said that government has launched several schemes for the welfare of labour class and also for improving their socio-economic conditions. The Speaker was addressing a function at Eidgah today organised by Labour Department in connection with Awareness Cum Cheques distribution among registered labourers of the constituency.Gul said that labourers should come forward and avail the benefits of schemes under implementation for their welfare. On this occasion, Rs. 46.16 lakh were distributed in the form of cheques among 594 children of Srinagar district by J&K building and Construction Workers Board.On this occasion, the Minister was informed that till date Rs. 3.74 crore were distributed among 5620 labourers as financial assistance. Besides it was told that 16820 labourers were registered by Labour department. Gul advised labourers to provide education to their children through the government schools so that they will become responsible citizens of the state.Deputy Labour Commissioner, Ghulam Rasool Kumar, ALC Srinagar, Gulzar Ahmad and other officers were present on the occasion.
