Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir said Agro and Agriculture sector infrastructure is being developed and upgraded on modern lines across the State so that people associated with the sector are benefitted and are facilitated with better services aimed to uplift their economic status.The Minister said this after laying foundation stone of Corporate Complex of J&K State Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited (JKSAIDCL) being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.15 crore at Lal Mandi Srinagar here on Saturday.Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Managing Director, JKSAIDCL, Mr. Abdul Majeed Bhat, Director Agriculture Department, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Shah and officers of the concerned Departments were also present on the occasion.

The Minister exhorted upon the concerned executing agencies to expedite the pace of construction so that said project is completed in stipulated time besides urged for utilizing funds judiciously and ensuring quality work.

Mr. Mir said that adequate measures have been taken for safeguard the interests of consumers as well as producers by making use of latest technology and expertise of scientists for enhancing Agro based production in Kashmir. The Minister also inspected the Cold Storage and Agro Mall and took stock of its functioning. He was informed that besides farmers, business agencies are being benefited from the Storage unit.Later, the Minister also presided over the function organized by the Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH), Rangreth in connection with weeklong advance training programme held for Agriculture and Horticulture officers of Kerala on advanced cultivation techniques of temperate horticulture crops.The Minister also distributed certificates among the participants on the occasion. Among others, Director CITH, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Director Horticulture/Agriculture, Kerala, Mr. Shaji M Manakuuttu and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
