Sidharth Malhotra To Replace Akshay Kumar In Rowdy Rathore Sequel?

Bollywood is bringing back the old hit films with their franchises as it is recently becoming a trend in the film industry. Recently Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Hera Pheri 3 and many others were announced and now one more masterpiece is coming with its franchise. None other than the sequel of blockbuster entertainer Rowdy Rathore is in talks now.

It has been speculated that Rowdy Rathore is going to happen but this time with a different cast as the filmmakers are in the middle of locking the cast for the film. It is rumoured that Sidharth Malhotra will be replacing Akshay Kumar for the highly anticipated sequel as per the reports. 

A source close to the filmmakers revealed that, “Shabina Khan has been trying to develop Rowdy Rathore 2 for a while now, but has been waiting for all factors to fall in place. She has finally managed to lock the core idea for Rowdy Rathore 2 and is in conversation stage with Sidharth Malhotra to play the role of a cop in this film. Sid too has shown interest, however, is still contemplating if he should play a cop role outside of the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe.”

“The makers are looking to take the film on floors in the next 2 months as the basics are already on paper. It’s just about getting a cast on board the film now. The talks are also on with a top director, who delivered a blockbuster last year, to be at the helm of affairs,” the source further added. 

It is still not confirmed that Sidharth will be playing as a cop in Rowdy Rathore by replacing Akshay Kumar as no official information is out as of now. All eyes are on the further updates whether it will be Sidharth or Akshay or anyone else on board for the sequel. For the unversed, Akshay Kumar played as a cop in the Rowdy Rathore which was released in 2012 and proved itself to be a blockbuster and entertained people a lot. 

Sidharth has also played the role of a cop in Indian Police Force helmed by Rohit Shetty. If confirmed, then it will be his second movie in which he will be portraying a cop avatar.
