On the contemporary era, When the cities are busy to take pleasure of every latest technologies and high tech gadgets on other side there is huge chunk of population, who have their own way of living and have been living on the edges of the mountains since their existence are known as Nomads.For their survival they all have their unique practices to live their lives. Even their survivor measure are depend upon day to day manual laboring works that helps them to generate a day income with which they feed their families. With their own means of survival they use horses and donkeys as a means of transport.Just about 25Kms North side from Summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, there is a village called "Faqeer Gujjar" Located on the top of Zabarwan hills surrounded with a splendid beauty, mountains bounding with greenery and gripped with cherry trees.This village contains majority of Nomads communities. Houses plastered with mud doors designed by ancient way.Utensils used are of an old pattern and made up of mud.Busy with their own daily survival majority in Faqeer Gujjar doesn’t know what is the political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to 5 Dariya News Senior Correspondent,A 100 years old woman Gul Jan said that she don’t have any knowledge about the turmoil in Kashmir. Preponderance of village houses are farmers installed small farming area in front of their houses theysaid that we earn through the day and eat up in night.Recalling about the incidents witnessed in 100 years of age, Gul Jan said that she mostly saw bear, tiger running in front of her house and now any other incident didn’t cross her way.Though the Nomads came to the Valley 5000 years ago, when Civilization of Burzaham came to its existence. In Kashmiri language Nomads are called as “Gujar” which stands for origin is “moving from one place to another with goats and sheep’s”.A unique and interesting thing about nomads is that they are dependents upon their Cattles disposition.Another attention-grabbing thing about Nomads are that they don’t only deforest but also afforest for their beneficial causes that is why they are still living in up hilly forests as the world in city centers deforested well.
About 38 Kms from Srinagar city a nomad’s village called WANGATH located in Kangan area of Gandarbal District, Gujar Pati of Bandipora district and Pati Kawa of Kupwara district, there are a mass presence of Nomads living in the area’s having their own unique life style. History reveals that 30 years age Nomads houses were built up with mud; self made bricks and also wood But now a day’s about 30% nomad’s population has turned towards urbanization. Most of the casts of Nomads in valley are Bajaad, Awaan, & Chicoo The main reason why Nomads ages are on high peak as compare to citizen of cities are that they eat and have healthy and self made foods like honey pure butter ghee etc.
