With authorities failing to undertake macadamization of Mehjoor Nagar road, the area shopkeepers have been mulling to pool money to set the 2 kilometer busy motarable raod right.Miffed at the alleged government apathy, scores of shopkeepers in Mehjoor Nagar called a meeting and decided to pool money for the repair of the road in case government did not macadamize it in coming days. The shopkeepers said they many times approached the government top brass including MLA Amira Kadal seeking macadamization of the road but all in vain. “The road which is in shambles from past three years is taking a heavy toll on the commuters, especially shopkeepers-who face immense problems to travel through the stretch. The road along bund was macadamized but no attention was paid towards main busy road,” said an inhabitant Farooq Ahmed. The inhabitants of scores of colonies of Mehjoor Nagar said that in absence of repairs, the three- kilometer stretch is dotted with potholes. The locals said due to bad condition of the road, the drivers mostly three-wheelers avoid plying on the route. When contacted Chief Engineer R&B Satish Razdan told CNS that there is a proper plan to macadamize Mehjoor Nagar road and soon it will be macadamized.
