Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu

Pakistan troops overnight violated the ceasefire agreement on the line of control (LoC) and international border in four sectors of the Jammu region."Pakistan army opened unprovoked firing at Indian positions on the LoC in Krishna Ghati and Mandi sectors of Poonch district at 9.30 p.m. yesterday (Sunday)," a defence spokesman told IANS here on Monday."They also started firing at our positions in Balakote sector of Rajouri district around the same time. Our troops responded to Pakistan firing."

"Pakistan Rangers fired at BSF border outposts during Sunday night in Pallanwalla sector in Jammu district without any provocation," a senior police officer said here on Monday.BSF troops, too, retaliated.Both the defence spokesman and the senior police officer said intermittent firing exchanges were still on at all four places when reports last came in.
