Holding protest against alleged excesses committed on protesters yesterday and supporting demand for another full-fledged AIIMS in Jammu, National Conference Sunday staged a protest at Talab Tillo here with workers raising slogans criticising the Centre and PDP-BJP Government in the State for ‘hoodwinking public opinion on this important issue.’“The governments in New Delhi and in the State are not clear on this sensitive issue, as a result of which the situation continues to be fluid, forcing the people in general and proponents of the cause of Jammu AIIMS in particular to continue the agitation”, NC District President Jammu Urban Dharamveer Singh Jamwal said while addressing the protesters.

He said National Conference has been steadfast in its stand about a separate AIIMS for Jammu while the party has welcomed and lauded the decision of sanctioning the one for Kashmir. “On the contrary, there are contradictions not only between PDP and BJP and within the Sangh Parivar itself. The BJP Ministers and the leaders are speaking differently on this issue,” he wondered.Jamwal expressed anguish over treatment meted out to the civil society members yesterday, saying the government has demonstrated sheer arrogance and frustration by shrinking the democratic space. He termed the police action as muzzling voice and warned the government to desist from anti-people policies, saying these are detrimental to the harmonious growth of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.Strongly pitching for full-fledged AIIMS in Jammu, Jamwal said vague and ambiguous statements have potential of alienating the people further. He complimented the people for showing exemplary unity and projecting their rightful demand peacefully and democratically.
