To ensure availability of basic facilities to people, snow clearance from all the major roads, link roads and lanes in Kashmir pision and to regulate traffic, a meeting of officers of pisional administration was convened here today by the pisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shailendra Kumar.The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, Mechanical Engineering department, Beacon, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Director Health Services Kashmir, SP Traffic Srinagar, Joint Commissioner, SMC, Joint Director Information, Kashmir, Joint Director CA&PD and other concerned officers.The meeting while reviewing snow clearance arrangements was informed that Mechanical Engineering Department has kept 103 snow cutters ready for snow clearance while Beacon authority is pressing 133 snow clearance machines into service for clearing snow on the National Highway besides 3 cranes have been kept available for towing stranded vehicles on the National Highway.The SMC authorities were asked to ensure clearance of snow from all lanes and by-lanes in the Srinagar district and gear up its men and machinery for dewatering of inundated areas of the district.
Giving details of stock and supply position of essentials in the Kashmir valley, the CA&PD department told the meeting that sufficient stocks of essentials are available for the valley consumers.The pisional Commissioner directed the CA&PD authorities to mobilise its checking squads to curb profiteering, hoarding and black marketing in the valley. The traffic authorities have been asked to set up a control room to keep the people aware about the status of the National Highway. He asked the BSNL authorities to ensure better service during the inclement weather situation in the valley.The pisional Commissioner urged the officers to work in tandem so that people do not face any inconvenience during the inclement weather situation.
