“Allotment of work to the city contractors would be made only after making outlay provisions in the Budget” said Anil Joshi, Local Bodies Minister in a press communiqué released here today.Mr. Joshi said that written instructions in this regard have been issued to all the Local Bodies. He said that these instructions have been issued pursuing the directions of the Hon’ble courts. He said that this decision will help the department in resolving all the issues regarding delays in the payments to contractors. He said that based on the guidelines issued by the courts a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Technical Advisor Major General Bhatt. He said that on the recommendations of the committee, Local Bodies have been instructed to launch new projects only after considering the priority of work.Local Bodies Minister said that these new projects will be started in the areas where the provisions in the budget and funds are available. He also said that the allocation of funds should be done after keeping aside the expenses of annual pension, maintainence, street lights etc. He said that new tender would not be floated in any case if funds are not available.Mr. Joshi further said that for the Municipal Corporations the nodal officers will be commissioner and for Municipal Council & Panchayat, Improvement trust nodal officers will be regional deputy director.
