The Punjab Government has decided in principle to initiate punitive measures against all those private schools, which had not filled 25 per cent seat with the poor student under Right to Education Act (RTE). Affiliation of all these private schools would be cancelled with the slapping of one lakh fine. It was disclosed by Education Minister, Punjab  Sikander Singh Maluka, here today. He said that record of all private schools, specifically mentioning the seats filled with poor students under RTE, has been sought from District Education Officers. Maluka said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has personally instructed all the departments of Punjab Government to ensure the implementation of policies structured for upliftment of the downtrodden and poor families. He said that RTE has been implemented by Punjab and state government is committed for the over all development of the poor and marginalized section of the society. He said that Education Department is providing furniture to all the Primary Schools of the state and vacant post of the teacher would be filled on priority to improve the education standards.
