A group of youth Wednesday attacked the cavalcade of National Conference leader Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri at Renzipora Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Ratanpuri who is contesting from Pulwama constituency on National Conference ticket, received minor injuries to his foot while three vehicles that were part of his election road show also suffered damages in the attack.Eyewitnesses told CNS that few vehicles fitted with public address system appeared in Renzipora area. The NC supporters waving NC flags, seeking votes for Ratanpuri, came under attack when group of youth pelted stones on the vehicles. Witnesses added that a stone hit the foot of Ratanpuri when he tried to come out from vehicle. Three more NC workers suffered injuries during the attack.

“The group comprising of six to eight youth took us all by surprise as they continuously showered stones on us. We ran for cover while three of our vehicles were damaged. Ratanpuri sahab was also hit and taken to hospital for treatment,” one of the NC worker told CNS.When contacted Ratanpuri told CNS that his foot has been fractured and is unable to walk.A police official said that they have registered an FIR in this regard and a hunt has been launched to nab the stone-pelters.
