Department of Home Affairs & Justice, Punjab issued the notification declaring all police personnel/officers right from constable to the level of Director General of Police connected with election related duty as designated officers/officials.
A spokesman of the Home Department said that under the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) all police officers from the level/rank of the Director General of Police/ Additional Director General of Police//Inspector General of Police/Commissioner of Police at the top level, officers immediately subordinate to them and upto the level of head-constable and constable involved in any way in election-related duties, specially under section 28A of the Representative of People Act, 1951 are hereby notified as Designated Officers/Officials under the provision of section 28A of the R.P. Act, 1951 with immediate effect.
