Punjab Gatka Association is going to organize its 2nd Punjab State Women Gatka Championship at Shahi Physical Education College Jhakrodi, Samrala in district Ludhiana on September 27 and 28.Disclosing this here on Sunday, Association president Harcharn Singh Bhullar IPS said that in this annual state level event is named as Mai Bhago Gatka Cup will witness martial art fights in age groups under 14, under 17, under 19, under 22 and under 25. The Gatkebaaz will display their Gatka skills in single and team event competitions in Soti and Soti-Farri fights besides weapons demonstration, he informed.
Adding further he said that all district Gatka associations have been asked to declare dates for selection trails to decide on girls Gatka teams at district level and submit the lists to Convener of this event Baljinder Singh Toor before September 21st and the bouts will be declared on September 22. He informed that during this mega event a girls Gatka team will also be selected to represent the state in national championship to be held at SAS Nagar in December this.Mr Bhullar asked the Gatka teams from distant districts to reach on September 26 at the venue as special arrangements for girls have been set on. He also informed that after flag hoisting and march past during the opening ceremony the tournament will start at 9.30 am sharp on September 27.He added that Kuljit Kaur Amritsar, Jasbir Kaur Gurdaspur and Gurwinder Kaur from Sultanpur Lodhi have been assigned responsibilities of in-charges for successful conduct of this state tournament. Mr Gurbir Singh Shahi Chairman of the Mata Gurdev Kaur Memorial Shahi Physical Education College Jhakrodi, Samrala will be the chief organiser of this mega event.
