The Congress party leaders of the city are up in arms against the royal couple for ignoring the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi with Senior leader Harpal Pradhan former President of NSUI Punjab and ex Chief of district youth Congress openly coming out against former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and former union Minister Preneet Kaur.Talking to media here today he also accused the couple of suppressing the voice of the senior congress leaders of the city and also offered to resign from his post of Director Punjab Gramin Bank for Preneet if she wished to join and serve the people. He said that it was strange that the couple was projecting itself as if they are everything in the Congress party and ignoring even the Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in their election posters. He said that the SAD and the AAP has also included photographs of their senior leaders but the royal duo has decided to ignore everyone.He said that it was strange that the Preneet Kaur was defeated by the people of the Patiala only two months ago but Capt. Amarinder Singh deliberately decided to made her candidate ignoring the several senior contenders including KK Sharma, Prem Krishan, Anil Mehta, Sanjiv Bittu besides others.
He said that whoso ever raises his voice is expelled by the party and this style of the royal couple has stopped the fresh entrants in the party. He said that Capt. Amarinder Singh first expelled Brahm Mohindra from this seat later Sant Ram Singla was also forced to leave Patiala Parliamentary seat. Then freedom fighter and seniormost leader Ved Prakash Gupta was also sidelined. He said that Capt Amarinder Singh even forced Brij Lal Goel to quit when he won in 1992. He said that Capt. Amarinder’s autocratic style forced exodus of Congress leaders from the party. He said that on hand he forced the Congress to cut tickets of Hindu Community leaders whereas the SAD gave tickets to leaders from this community. He said that it was Capt. Amarinder Singh who is responsible for defeat of the Congress party in 2007 and 2012 assembly elections.Harpal also questioned the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh and said that he left the Congress only to became minister in Barnala Ministry.Later he rejoined Congress by requesting Sonia Gandhi and cites his old relations with the family but he is hell bent on finishing the Congress party. He also accused Amarinder Singh of not offering Shardhanjli to former CM Beant Singh.
