All Villages To Be Covered Under Fresh Drinking Water Wb Scheme In Next Two Years

The Punjab Government has decided to cover all the villages under WB scheme to provide fresh drinking water during next two years. A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with World Bank's team and senior officers of the state government here at his residence.The leader of the World Bank's team, Shyamal Sarkar informed that as many as 690 villages had been covered under the scheme to provide fresh drinking water to the people in the first phase and assured the Chief Minister that Rs. 630 crore project to provide fresh drinking water in 700 villages along with sewerage system facilities in 100 villages would be taken up in the next phase and completed with in two years.Expressing concern over the quality of work under this scheme, the Chief Minister asked Secretary Water Supply and Sanitation Sanjay Kumar to introduce a new system of inspection not just only through the senior officers of the department but from some reputed agency with the involvement of general public.
