Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth president, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, Thursday accused the National Conference-led government in the state for adding to the alienation among the youth with the system. He also said winds of change are blowing on the ground and time is not too far when Kashmir will breathe free and its youth will live a dignified life without any fear of persecution.Addressing a series of youth meetings in Pulwama and Shopian constituencies he said Omar Abdullah, as the chief minister, misunderstood the youth power, over last more than five years, and it is only when he got severe drubbing in the recent parliamentary polls he went on for ‘course correction’  to befool the people. Waheed said the chief minister, who is heading the most insensitive, inefficient and corrupt regime in the state, can’t wash off his sins by just revoking his own senseless policies and orders.

He said fact of the matter is that this government has done everything to inflict maximum injuries to our young population instead of working for their interests, and it is too late for the ruling parties to win over people through populist measures. Waheed said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are aware about the happenings around and politically sensitive enough to be deceived and the days are gone for the NC’s manipulative politics. The PDP youth president said by enhancing retirement age of the government employees, Omar Abdullah has not done any mercy with them, whom he has brazenly humiliated during last five and a half years on every occasion when they came out with their demands. He said everyone would have liked if this government had also done anything serious to create meaningful and respectable job opportunities for our young population. “But, instead it used every method to put brakes on their future by labelling them as drug addicts, stone-pelters, anti-nationals and paid agents,” he added.Waheed said Kashmir is at a historic threshold and it is the youth who are the agents of change, who need to understand how important it is to have an honest and transparent system in the state. He said PDP understands the sensibilities of the people and it would do everything possible to come up to their expectation once voted to the government.
