State Wide Campaign For Putting Up Signage Launched: Sharanjit Dhillon

The Punjab government has decided to launch a state wide campaign to put up modern signage along all National and State Highways besides demarcating all roads with white centre and border lines to ensure road safety and guide commuters.

Disclosing this here today Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, said that these road safety initiatives would help in saving much precious lives in road accident on one hand and would indicate the precious location and direction of the villages and other destinations in the night.  He said that the work on this project would be commenced soon and completed with stipulated time period.

Dhillon further said that the department has issued instructions to put up ‘site order book’ at every construction site where works costing more than three crore are underway. He said that officers have been instructed to insert complaint in the site order book regarding any fault he found during his visit to the construction site.

He said that the senior officers of the department have been instructed to make supervisory visit to the various project under construction to monitor the progress of work & its quality and to ensure the timely completion of the work. He said that the chief engineer has been told to furnish the monthly progress report of the under construction projects. He said that corruption and indiscipline would not be tolerated at any cost, anyone found indulged in mal practices would be brought to the books.
