Observing that cheap rhetoric is not answer to multifaceted problems confronted to Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Wednesday said National Conference believes in creating conditions for people to lead dignified life and enjoy the fruits of development in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.“In the din of populism and rants of sloganeering, the real issues always take rear seat with development becoming a casualty”, Mr Rana said while addressing a day-long convention of his party functionaries and workers of Nagrota here this afternoon.According to a statement issued, the Provincial President said National Conference has all along eschewed the tendencies of creating hype and instead concentrated on development, socio-economic transformation and implementation of welfare schemes for the benefit of targeted segments of people. “The pidends of the efforts made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are evident in every sphere of activity”, he said while highlighting major achievements of the government during past five and half years. He said heralding peace was a big challenge when the government took over the reins of administration in 2009, which paved way for concentrating on development in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.“As the ongoing term of Omar led government is wrapping up, we can take solace in respecting the mandate of the people by ensuring peace and development on faster pace”, he maintained.

Rana said sustained peace, obtaining normalcy and accelerated development has been the hallmark of Omar led government, which unfortunately became eyesore for the opponents who found their political space getting shrunk and in fear of losing ground they kept raking up frivolous issues to pert people’s attention from real issues. “Feeling dumb struck over the pace of development, the disgruntled political actors have been resorting to incite passions to further their nefarious agenda”, he said, adding that this is neither going to help them in the long run nor benefiting the masses who crave for better life.Cautioning people against machinations of peace and development inimical elements, Mr Rana said National Conference has, is and will strive to steer the State to progress and prosperity. He urged the workers to step up their mass outreach campaign and apprise the people about achievements on the developmental front during the past five and half years besides policies and programmes in the pipeline for enhancing their quality of life.

The Provincial President complimented politically sagacious people of Nagrota for their endorsement to the policies and programmes of National conference which was reflected in immense measure during the just concluded parliamentary elections. He said the conscious voters, especially the youngsters deserve pat for differentiating between good and bad. He hoped they will continue to support the National Conference thus making it a vibrant engine of change.“National Conference stands for singularity of the State and equal opportunities of progress and development its distinct three regions and their sub-regions”, he said while taking dig on the parties that indulge in duplicity and pide people on region, religion and caste. “We will fight with our full might the attempts of polarising the people with an eye on elections”, he said, adding that National Conference will keep the flag of amity and brotherhood aloft at all costs. He urged the workers to get ready for ensuing Assembly elections, saying these will be crucial for steering the State to political stability, which alone holds promise for peace and development.
