Solar Power Based Water Supplies Schemes Worth Rs 67.71 Lakh Launched In Jalandhar

In order to ensure supply of potable water to the people and reduce power bills, The Water Supply and Sanitation Department on Monday dedicated Solar- Power based schemes worth Rs 67.71 lakh to the people of various villages falling in Adampur block of the district.The projects were inaugurated by World Bank Task Team Leader Mr Srinvsa Rao Podipireddy in Jagrava Muradpur, Talwara, Golpind and Jaganpur in villages. Divulging more information, Mr Srinvsa Rao Podipireddy and HOD Water Supply and Sanitation Department Mr Amit Talwar said that the projects consist a 150-ft deep tubewell, water tank having a capacity of 25000-litre water, water connection to each residence and on-grid solar system.They said that the solar power system will produce electricity and the same will be supplied to PSPCL resulting reduce in the power bills and ensuring effective implementation of the schemes. They said that the schemes will also increase the revenues of Gram Panchayat Water and Sanitation Committee.They revealed that both schemes will ensure the supply of water to 243 houses in the villages after proper chlorination and will supply the water for 10-hours initially and later 24-hours.They also exhorted the residents of these villages to not to waste a single drop of water and must be used judiciously.On the occasion, Chief Engineer Mr SK Jain, Superintendent Engineer Mr Kuldeep Singh Saini, Executive Engineer Mr Sukhdeep Singh Dhaliwal, SDOs Mr Baldev Raj, Mr Gagandeep Singh Walia and panchayat members of villages were present.
