DDC Budgam reviews implementation of SBM

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganie today chaired a meeting during which Rs 42.55 crore plan under SBM and other related projects was approved for the district Budgam for the financial year of 2019-20.The meeting also reviewed the status of implementation of works/projects taken up under SBM programme across the district. The earmarked approved outlay inclusive of central share will be spent under many initiatives and projects launched under SBM in the district. ADC Budgam, SE Hydraulics, DPO, CMO, CEO and other concerned were present on the occasion.During the meeting, it was given out that District Budgam has already been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF), however more efforts are needed to sustain the achievement.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed upon all concerned to involve all stakeholders particularly students, civil society, volunteers and envisage their support and cooperation in making the initiatives launched under SBM a success.The meeting was also told that 402 community toilets have been targeted to be completed during the current financial year, which will mainly be raised at identified spots like bus-yards, tourist spots and other public gathering locations.Under current year’s initiatives, the DDC said in order to give more flip to the cleanliness and garbage free atmosphere at prominent pilgrimage sites of Charari-Sharief and Pakherpora, two Community Sanitary Complexes will come up for public convenience. In addition a comprehensive plan under pilot project has been formulated where under 17 concrete Solid Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) projects dumping plants would be constructed at Block Levels for which land has already been identified.he DDC also stressed for Geo-tagging and regular online updation of all SBM related works. In addition he directed for constituting of teams consisting of all concerned so that base line survey of left out works is conducted.
