It was the day of jawans of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to set a new benchmark in public service by saving  more than 80 precious lives during special operation in flood affected Phillaur Sub Division. In order to tackle any sort of urgency arising out of the swollen Satluj river the  district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal has already requested the  positioning of NDRF at Phillaur. However when the breach took place at four places in Satluj, the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, while  understanding the gravity of situation, called in the SDRF also on the spot along with the Army. Then started a major operation to save the precious lives of people. The  Senior Superintendent of Police took charge and led the forces from the front to save the lives of people stranded in Mao Sahib and Nawan khera villages. The SDRF  led by Superintendent of Police Mr Gurmeet Singh and the jawans of NDRF and Indian Army duly fulfilled the motive with which they were pressed in for service. The  Jawans inflated the Outboard Motor (OBM) Boats and soon they were seen saving the people by wading through the water.Starting from 5 am in the morning these  boats continuously inspected the waters spread over acres of fertile land to ensure that there was no loss of life. The jawans meticulously performed their duty to uphold  the glorious tradition of Indian Army and Punjab Police to render selfless service for the masses. It was really a day of the brave hearts of Indian Army, NDRF and  Punjab Police.
