Special Drive To Start For Helping Those Injured In Road Accidents

District & Sessions Judge Issues Directions To Civil & Police Administration Regarding The Same

District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Ludhiana Mr Gurbir Singh said that it has been observed that sometimes people shy away from helping the road accident victims in fear of getting entangled in legal or police issues later. He said that to change peoples mindset in this regard, there is a need to start a special drive in district Ludhiana.Mr Gurbir Singh has directed the Civil and Police Administration to start a special drive for making the people aware about helping the road accident victims. In this regard, a “Samaritan Drive” under the leadership of District Legal Services Authority Ludhiana would be started soon, in which people of district Ludhiana would be educated about providing every possible help/support to the road accident victims.The District & Sessions Judge Ludhiana stated that some people have this mindset that if they help the road accident victims, they might get entangled in some legal or police issues if the victim dies either on the way to hospital or on reaching there. He said that this mindset is totally wrong. 

He said that several precious lives can be saved if the accident victims get medical help on time.He directed the police administration to carry out checks of all night shelters, Bal Aashram’s, Old Age Homes and Aashram’s for mentally challenged etc running in district Ludhiana. The police has also been directed to check whether any illegal activities are going there. Besides, the police has also been asked to check whether all facilities are being provided to people residing there or not.He also directed the all those, who have been declared guilty in different cases, they should be contacted and legal help for filing appeal in High Court and Supreme Court of India should be provided. Besides, the Civil Administration has been directed to provide ambulance facility in Central Women Jail and Observation Home. He also directed that Aadhaar Cards of all jail inmates should be made on priority basis, so that this card should not come in way of providing medical aid to them.The meeting was also attended by Additional District & Sessions Judge Mr Varinder Aggarwal, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Miss Kanu Garg, besides members of District Legal Services Authority.
