Samba admin launches massive plantation drive

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the District Administration Samba in collaboration with 129 Infantry Bn (TA) ECO JAKLI launched a mega plantation drive, here today.District Development Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chouhan who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the plantation drive.During the drive, about 40000 plants of different species including flowers, ornamental and fruit were planted. The major part of the drive was carried out by RDD, Education, Health, ICDS, IWMP and Transport department at the identified locations which include Panchayat Ghar, Anganwari Centres, health centres, CFCs, educational institutions, along road side, canal and ponds. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC urged the participants to plant more and more trees to save the environment from global warming, pollution and other anti-environmental effects. "Such initiatives would bring major relief to the environment besides it also maintain the ecological balance”, the DDC maintained.She asked the students to aware the society regarding the importance of saving green gold and making the Samba district green and clean.

She thanked 129 Infantry Bn (TA) ECO JAKLI and Kokuyo Camlin for their active support in organizing the event and hoped that similar programmes would also be organized in future.The locals of the area hailed the initiative of the district administration, 129 Infantry Bn (TA) ECO JAKLI  and Kokuyo Camlin for organizing the plantation drive.Among others, Brig. J.S. Budhvar, CO Armed Sharief Chouhan, CO Nandu Kumar,SSP, Dr. Koushal Sharma,  ADDC Pankaj Magotra, ADC Arun Manhas, ACR, Wasim Raja, ACD, Aijaz Qaiser, Additional SP, Raja Adil, other district officers besides a large number of students and locals were also present on the occasion.
