The textile fraternity of Punjab and Chandigarh in true Punjabi spirit dispatched a truck full of packets of biscuits, blankets and rice to Kerala. The truck was flagged off by Congress councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu today.While speaking on the occasion, Mrs Mamta Ashu said that the Congress led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of people of Kerala. She said that few days back, trucks full of 1 lakh packets of relief material were flagged off from the city and lakhs of packets have been sent to Kerala from across the state. She said that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has urged everyone to donate household items and eatables for people of Kerala at this hour of crisis.Mr Sonu Nilibar, General Secretary of the Punjab Cloth Merchants Association and organiser for this project 'AID KERALA' said, “Its a very small gesture for Kerala, which is often called Gods own Country and the good part of this collective contribution is that we are not disclosing  any individuals financial contribution in any platform how ever small or large donation it might be, as it defeats the purpose of Sewa.” Gurbani says: ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਇਨਿਹਕਾਮੀ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ॥ (The Guru states that, One who perform selfless service without desire for reward will certainly attain liberation.”Mr Sanjay Arora, President of Ludhiana Cloth Merchant Association said “Biscuits are  being send to Jay laxmi store Kochi Kerala . They are also in our same textile trade and have promised to distribute everything personally.”Mr Bobby Gulati, President of the Chandigarh Cloth Merchant Association, said “This is time to stand with our brothers in Kerala at the time of calamity and do what ever is possible  to help them.” Mr Kavish of Kishore Saree Amritsar said “Punjabi’s have always been leading in service for nation and Amritsar itself gets the largest numbers of visitors from across our country so it’s time to do our bit.”“The biscuits are being transported free of charges to Kochi (Kerala) by Nitin Patel of Patel Parcel service, informed Mr Rakesh Gupta of Hind Silk Ludhiana.
