PPCB And Traffic Police Continues Crackdown Against Motorcycles Causing Noise Pollution

In order to check noise pollution under caused by motorcycles using cracker sound emitting silencers and pressure horns, a joint team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Traffic Police continued its special drive by challaning five such violators.The team headed by Junior Environmental Engineer (JEE) PPCB Mr. Varun Kumar and Assistant Sub-inspector Mr. Harpreet Singh checked 17 Royal Enfield Motorcycles at local Kapurthala chowk. During the drive the team issued challans to five persons for the violation of the noise pollution rules. The violators would also be issued show cause notices under section 31-A of Air Act, 1981 to the violators.The team members made the owners of light vehicles aware about rules and regulations regarding noise pollution and appealed them to stop using pressure horns in their vehicles as it causes a lot of noise pollution.
