After the BJP-PDP breakup, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah Monday appealed Election Commission of India to hold early elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said they will not offer support to any party in government formation.Addressing reporters after meeting governor NN Vohra, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said they have neither been approached by any nor would they offer their support to any party. He said that his party has assured the governor of their support. He, however, said that elections must be held as soon as possible.Omar Abdullah said that he is not happy with the BJP decision and in fact he is mourning. When asked has BJP embarrassed PDP, Omar Abdullah said that the decision was sudden and surprising and nobody should feel embarrassed. “I feel the BJP should have taken the PDP into confidence.”“We have neither been approached nor have we approached any party for support to form a government in the state. The Governor has no option but to impose Governor’s rule and improve the situation so that a democratic government is formed in the state after holding fresh elections,” Omar Abdullah said.Asked about his party’s earlier offer of support made to the PDP, he said: “That was a one-time offer and after they joined hands with the BJP, that offer ended.” (CNS)
