4 CRPF men, cop, civilian in Khanbal grenade blast

Four paramilitary troopers, a policeman and a civilian sustained splinter injuries after militants hurled a grenade at Khanbal area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday.Official sources told GNS that suspected militants lobbed a grenade on a joint patrol of CRPF and Police, resulting in injuries to four CRPF men and the cop.A pedestrian Abdul Rasheed of Amlar, Tral also received injuries in the incident, they said.All the injured were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment. The injured CRPF troopers have been identified as Ravinder Singh, Veer Singh, Vinod Kumar, and Mohammad Siraj while policeman as Head Constable Abdul Majeed.A police officer while confirming the incident told GNS that investigations have been launched and searches started to nab the assailants. Meanwhile, militants fired upon the vehicle of CRPF’s 183 battalion at Eidgah crossing in Pulwama town early Friday morning.Official sources said there no loss of life or injury in the incident.When contacted SSP Pulwama Mohd Asalam Chaudhary told GNS that some gunshots were heard and there was no injuries reported. Soon after this incident whole area has been cordoned off. Jaish-e-Mohammad militant organization claimed responsibility for the twin attacks. “Mujahideen Jaish-e-Mohammad attacked CRPF vehicle near Eidgah crossing and several troopers were injured,” a spokesman of the militant organization said in a statement issued to GNS.“At Khanabal Anantnag, Mujahideen Jaish-e-Mohammad attacked Indian forces with a grenade, gravely injuring four CRP personnel and a policeman.” (GNS)
