Castigating the chief minister, Omar Abdullah for his statement that the ‘coming polls are not about his performance’, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar Thursday said this clearly indicates that Omar Abdullah has accepted defeat and is now brazenly running away from his responsibilities about the severe frauds, crimes his government has committed over the last five years in the state.Addressing party workers at Harduabura in Tangmarg segment of Baramula parliamentary constituency, Akhtar said whatever Omar Abdullah would think about the forthcoming polls but it is the fact that he has miserably failed to do any justice with people and is now trying to flee from the scene with the aim that people may forgive him for the cruelty his government has unleashed upon them.He said people are too aware about the happenings around and they understand it well that how the ruling alliance has left no stone unturned to inflict them gravest injuries so that they won’t be able to raise their voices against this insensitive and inefficient regime. He said deep down spines among people there is severe pain and by giving up too early Omar Abdullah can’t win over the people of Kashmir particularly youth who have suffered immensely because of his government’s merciless attitude.

He said NC is the offshoot of UPA in the state and both have failed to connect with Kashmiris and have maintained criminal silence over their sufferings and now if the ‘coming polls are not about his performance’ then about whose they are?He said it is ironical that only few days back, when he went all joyous after listening to ‘Wanwun (Kashmiri folk songs) at his party headquarters, Dr Farooq Abdullah had said ‘people will vote them for their performance’ and now Omar Abdullah is singing some different tunes tells about their frustration. Speaking on the occasion, the senior party leader and MLA Sangrama, Syed Basharat Bukhari said by raising the dead issue of Autonomy again, out of which they have made enough fortunes and enjoyed a lot of power in the past, shows NC leadership has nothing to show as its performance and they now have fallen on bad times.Bukhari said a sense of helplessness and disempowerment has seized the people under the NC rule which is a dangerous development but it could be the trigger to a pleasant change. He said the state government is involved in its survival battle and it is significant that people no more expect anything from it. Bukhari said the frustration among the people is understandable and it would end only with a change in the political scenario and empowerment of people.
