Jai Ram Thakur announces 20 lakh for improvement of Bharari Police Ground

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over closing ceremony of the T-20 cricket match played between Chief Minister XI and Press XI at Police Ground Bharari, organized by Shimla Sports, Social and Cultural Association Shimla today said sports activities are vital for overall development of personality. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur captained the Chief Minister XI team.Chief Minister said that the State Government was committed to improve sports infrastructure in the State. He said that since Shimla town lacks big play grounds and the Police Ground was suitable ground left where such activities could be held. He asked officers of the Police Department to provide this ground for organizing such events.Shri Jai Ram Thakur also announced Rs 20 lakh for improvement and upgradation of the ground.President, Shimla Sports Social and Cultural Association Shri V.D Sharma honoured the Chief Minister by presenting shawl and Himachali cap.Earlier, General Secretary of the Association Dr. Lokinder Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister on the occasion.The Final Match was played between the CM XI and the Press XI. the CM XI scored 94 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Captain of the team and Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram scored 21 runs, which includes three lofty fours.The Press XI achieved the target in 13 overs by losing only one  wicket. Pawan Kumar of Press XI scored 37 not out and was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.Ranveer Singh of Press XI was declared Man of the Series for this outstanding performance in the tournament.The Chief Minister also gave prizes to the winners and participants of the tournament. He also released souvenir brought out by the organizer on the occasion.Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Rajiv Saizal, Deputy Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Shri Hans Raj, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shri Vineet Chawdhary, Director General of Police Shri S.R. Mardi, Addirional Chief Secretary Shri Tarun Kapoor, Spl. Secretary Shri D.D. Sharma, Director Youth Services and Sports Shri Amarjeet Singh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
