National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the ensuing state of instability and chaos in J&K was a matter of serious concern and should be taken seriously as the consequences of indifference and callousness would be disastrous. Addressing the party’s Provincial Committee Meeting for Kashmir Province at Party Headquarters ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ in Srinagar on Thursday, the National Conference Working President took stock of the ongoing party activities and initiatives and also the challenges confronting the State. The National Conference Working President said governance instability, policy inconsistency and the deteriorating law and order situation in the State were all reminders of how the slogan of ‘change’ raised by the present ruling alliance had proven to be a hoax. The National Conference Working President also expressed dismay over the confusion and inconsistency at premiere service commissions and recruitment agencies in the State and said the recent intervention by the judiciary should be an eye-opener for the State Government and the Chief Minister and provoke a deep introspection. The National Conference Working President said it was painful and agonizing that Cabinet Ministers of the State openly attended divisive events and marches that are being held to save the culprits of the heinous Kathua rape and murder case. Mr. Omar Abdullah said the Chief Minister is answerable for allowing her Cabinet Colleagues to ridicule the law of the land and cast aspersions on the State’s Police, its objectivity and its investigative abilities.Omar Abdullah also sought feedback over various day-to-day issues confronting the people of the State and said the provision of essential supplies and services was a basic duty of the Government and glaring loopholes and inadequacies in such areas was extremely condemnable and unfortunate.Taking a stock of the party’s ongoing activities and initiatives, the NC Working President asked the party leaders to reach out to the youth and understand their sense of anguish and despair in an effort to build a consensus to usher the State into a corrective era of stability and peace.
